|
| Car matching
schemes are bogus calls which sellers may receive from
companies claiming they have a number of buyers interested
in your vehicle. For a 'small' fee these companies offer to
introduce you to these potential buyers. Although a number
of legitimate companies do exist that provide this service,
it is more likely than not that should you receive such a
call - it is a scam.
Never engage in
a conversation with any company with claims to have a
potential buyer for your vehicle and put the phone down
immediately. |

| At
MidlandMotors.ie we advertised a 2000 Hyundai Accent in one
of Irelands leading car sales magazines and received 2 such
phonecalls. Both calls received were from English landline
based numbers and both claimed to have potential buyers
lined up for our vehicle. We were informed that the fee to
be introduced to these customers was €90 in both cases. In
the first case we informed the company that the vehicle had
been sold and in the second case we feigned a little
interest and found that quite quickly we were being talked
into giving our credit card details over the phone! We found
the representative to be quite persistent and when we
finally managed to end the call, we received a further two
calls that same week from the same company. |
